Khun Palawi Bunnag, our valued partner, delivered an enlightening tax presentation at the BeLuThai Chamber of Commerce. In response to numerous questions from international attendees, both in-person and online, on the topic of Personal Income Tax on Foreign-sourced income brought into Thailand, the ILCT team had the pleasure of engaging with potential clients and imparting our knowledge on this important tax update.

Specifically, she spoke about what constitutes as Thai Tax Resident, how Assessable Income is defined by the Thai Revenue Code, Exempted Assessable Income, Tax Exemption through Long Term Residency, and the Avoidance of the Double Taxation Agreement.

Our Partners, Ratinuch Kawnachaimongkol and Juthajit Sriprasart attended the 13th China Trademark Festival in Dongguan, Guangdong Province, China on June 16-19, 2023. This event was organized by the China Trademark Association (CTA) and this year’s theme was “Trademarks Empower New Development, Brands Lead Dual Circulation”. The four-day professional conference composed of the China Trademark Annual Meeting, the China Brand Trademark Expo, and series of interesting sessions and activities, including a panel discussion under the topic of “Intellectual Property Alternative Dispute Resolution” which Ratinuch Kawnachaimongkol was invited as one of the honored guest speakers to share her knowledge and experience from Thailand to the Chinese and international audience.

Our team comprises the cream of Thai universities. Many of our team members have studied abroad for their second law degrees which exposed them to different cultures and new approaches to problem-solving. Generations and generations of lawyers have walked the halls of ILCT, reminding one of the saying by Sir Edward Coke: “Out of auld fields must spring and grow the new Corne”.

ILCT Represented Rodenstock Management and Compass Partners in EUR 1.5 Bn Acquisition Deal

Apax Funds (Apax) has announced a EUR 1.5 billion acquisition deal to secure a leading manufacturer of premium ophthalmic lenses, Rodenstock Group (Rodenstock).

In this acquisition deal, ILCT acted for Rodenstock and Compass Partners for the sale of its shares in Rodenstock Group by way of conducting a full-blown due diligence investigation on Rodenstock Thailand. The works include: reviewing corporate structure/documents, material contracts, insurance policies, financial agreements, employment contracts, real estate/litigation matters and intellectual property assets etc.

Palawi Bunnag, our partner was the leading attorney of this deal.

Since this was a full-blown due diligence investigation, apart from our corporate department, we had also bought in our IP team, litigation team and real estate team to assist with the case, commented by Palawi Bunnag

It is with our greatest pleasure to announce that one of our senior partners, the honorable Dr. Sutharm Valaisathien has been awarded with the Cross of Commander in the Order of the Crown (Commandeur de l’Ordre de la Couronne) by H.E. Ambassador Philippe Kridelka on behalf of His Majesty the King of the Belgians. The Order of the Crown is bestowed to Dr. Sutharm in recognition for his long year of diplomatic service. Moreover, Dr. Sutharm also resides as President of the Belgian-Luxembourg/Thai Chamber of Commerce where he had been holding the Presidency for the past decade (since 2001). After 10 years of Presidency, Dr Sutharm will become Honorary President of The Belgian-Luxembourg/Thai Chamber of Commerce.
